New visa service will be good for UK economy, says London First

Commenting on today’s announcement of new visa services, Baroness Jo Valentine, chief executive of London First said:

“These are welcome moves and show how the visa service can be managed in support of economic growth as well keeping the border secure.

“The GREAT club seems a sensible and pragmatic response to the fact that very senior business travellers tend to generate economic activity wherever they go and should be welcomed and encouraged.

“If regular travellers, whose credentials have been checked many times already, are able to avoid being kept waiting for hours in arrivals halls or to have visa applications processed more quickly, this must be good for the UK economy.

“It is not a substitute for ensuring that the Border Force has adequate resources to do its job, but it is an acknowledgement of the fact that not all travellers pose the same degree of risk to our border security.”
