New planning lead for capital’s influential business campaign groupFebruary 15, 2011
Business membership group, London First is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Executive Director to oversee its work on planning and development.
Faraz Baber will join London First in May from his current position as Policy and Programme Director – World City at London Councils, where he is responsible for infrastructure, planning and development, environment and climate change.
Faraz has previously worked as Policy Director: Economy, Environment and Housing for Surrey County Council; Director of Policy: Development and Regeneration for the British Property Federation; and Director of Housing, Planning and Development – Policy and Practice at RICS.
London First Director of Strategy and Policy, John Dickie said:
“Faraz brings a wealth of experience of planning policy in the capital which will help London First deliver on its mission to make London the best city in the world in which to do business.”
London First is a not for profit membership organisation with 200 of the capitals leading employers in membership. The influential group is at the heart of the planning debate and works with experts in planning and development from its membership to improve planning policy and decision making.
London First has led high profile campaigns for investment in London’s transport networks, particularly Crossrail and modernisation of the Tube, in favour of high-value immigration and for increased devolution from Whitehall to City Hall. In the last two years, it has pressed for a more internationally competitive tax regime. London First also runs a biennial careers festival for teenagers – Skills London – which is the largest of its kind in the UK.
