Business leaders to debate London’s futureJune 8, 2012
Final preparations are being made to bring key business leaders, property experts and senior public sector officials together to discuss the future challenges and opportunities in developing a modern London.
Influential business group, London First, and, leading property networking forum, Movers & Shakers, will bring together c.750 senior stakeholders from across the business, property and construction communities on October 18 at the inaugural London Property Summit 2012 – “Building a modern London”.
Supported by the Mayor of London, the Summit will be introduced and presented by James Caan – a former Dragon from BBC’s Dragons’ Den and current chairman of HB Real Estate – a venture capital platform for property entrepreneurs.
Some of London’s major FTSE CEO’s and landlords will discuss whether the conditions are ripe for businesses to continue to prosper in such turbulent economic conditions and how London can take full advantage of foreign investment given the level of stability and security London is able to offer.
The programme will also raise issues about: Commercial mixed use developments, London’s housing challenge – social and the private rented sector, the decline of the high street and the London Plan – how the Mayor’s new package of powers and land assets will support the delivery of jobs, growth and housing needs; and how to maintain and develop London’s world city status.
Faraz Baber, Executive Director of Planning at London First said:
“This is a timely event given that London will have reaped the benefits of international exposure in hosting the Games and continues to thrive as a magnet for foreign direct investment. The challenge going forward is how we maintain this momentum and build on the strong foundations London has.”
“With job creation and growth at the heart of the Mayor of London’s new term, the event will be an excellent staging platform for the business and property community to debate the essential requirements necessary to both sustain and build on London’s world city status.”
Leigh Natasha Salter, Business & Events Director, Movers & Shakers said:
“This is a unique one-day event – combining a morning of conference sessions, with an afternoon of showcasing and networking; focusing on London and bringing together key players in the Marketplace, synonymous with Movers & Shakers.”
James Caan, Former BBC Dragon and Chairman of HB Real Estate, said:
“The London Property Summit is a must-attend event for the UK Property and Construction Industry; exploring the opportunities and challenges for London in 2012 and beyond.”
