Counter-Terrorism Awareness Week, 25 Nov – 4 DecNovember 18, 2016
Counter-Terrorism Awareness Week, will take place across the UK between Friday 25 November and Sunday 4 December. The aim is to raise awareness of the police response to the terrorism threat in the run-up to Christmas and this year’s theme is partnership.
In anticipation of the week’s activities, the London First Security & Resilience Network is organising a briefing on Tuesday 22 November entitled, ‘Terrorist Trends and Protecting London through Partnership’.
Delegates will hear the official assessment from the Head of CT Command in London, as well as an academic view on the extent of radicalisation and the effectiveness of de-radicalisation programmes.
In addition, as terrorism feeds on publicity, there will be a contribution from a well-known writer on the role of the media in the portrayal of the extremist and the terrorists’ campaign in liberal democracies. All London First members are welcome.
Speakers at the event include:
Commander Dean Haydon, Head of CT Command, MPS.
Professor Peter Neumann, Professor of Security Studies at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London.
Robert Fox, Author and Journalist, Evening Standard.
Chairman: Hagai Segal, Lecturer and Author, New York University, London.
