Comment on the HAC report on UK Border AgencyNovember 9, 2012
Commenting on the Home Affairs Committee report, ‘The work of the UK Border Agency’, published today, London First’s chief executive, Baroness Jo Valentine, says:
“We agree with many of the Committee’s conclusions, but its report is essentially backward-looking. The Borders Agency is working to make changes that should make it more effective at not only keeping out unwelcome individuals but, equally importantly, ensuring that we welcome those with the talents and skills to make a contribution to our economy and our society. The business and education sectors are keen to help as much as possible.
“Skilled workers, students and tourists are vital to our economic health and we need to do everything we can to encourage them to come here rather than go to our international competitors.”
